Laser scanning captures the physical world with millimetric accuracy, yet delivering this level of fidelity into real-time XR engines remains a significant technical challenge. Standard pipelines rely on heavy preprocessing—baking, decimation, and manual optimization—that quickly break down at scale, particularly when working with thousands of scans.In this talk, we present a streaming-based architecture that allows laser-scan–resolution geometry to be visualized directly in Unreal Engine and Unity in real time.
By dynamically streaming and managing high-density, point-based geometry on the GPU, the system maintains spatial accuracy, stable frame rates, and a strong sense of VR presence—without requiring traditional data preparation workflows. We demonstrate interactive exploration of datasets comprising up to 10,000 scans at native resolution, enabling practical XR workflows for large-scale digital twins, inspection, and immersive review of complex real-world environments.
